The YinYan Band gives people the skills & confidence to start making joyful music as part of a friendly & welcoming collective. You don’t need any musical experience or talent – we promise you will be playing songs you love within an hour of picking up a ukulele for the very first time!

The people who have done our ‘ukulele crash courses’ felt 95% better afterwards – how good will you feel?! No experience? Doesn’t matter!

5.30pm Ukulele Crash Courses – then 6.30pm Open Jam

At 5.30pm we’ll be providing a 60 minute crash course to get you playing and enjoying music on a ukulele. We love beginners with zero experience or previous skills, don’t worry if you haven’t got a clue what you’re doing – you’ll be in good company and welcomed into our community with open arms! The people who have done our ‘ukulele crash courses’ felt 95% better afterwards – how good will you feel?!

After the ukulele crash course (5.30-6.30pm) we’ll see where the YinYan Band jam takes us with no fixed agenda…we can try tunes beyond our beginner songbook, open mic, perhaps even come up with new music – we’ve got tunes that need lyrics so poets & writers, movers & shakers welcome. And if you want to sit back and just watch you’re welcome too.

Do I need a ukulele, experience or music?

No, no & no! You don’t need to bring anything other yourself – find out more about what’s involved and download the song books we use here on our Band page. You don’t need to book – you can just turn up and join in, especially if you’re bringing your own instrument, although we recommend booking if you want to borrow a ukulele for the crash course.

I would definitely recommend it. You go at you own pace and there are always options for everyone, no matter what level you are. You only have to try it once!
