Curious about who does yoga in offices & why? Here’s a quick chat YinYan founder, Robin Ellis, had with one of YinYan’s top workplace wellbeing warriors, Lorraine Turner…if you’re wondering why they’re smiling so much it might be because they’d just done some yoga!
Robin: What YinYan classes have you done Lorraine?
Lorraine: I do the lunchtime yoga classes with Emma every Tuesday at No.1 Old Hall Street, and when I can I also attend the monthly Liverpool BID Company classes. Using empty offices for classes like these is brilliant.
Robin: When did you start yoga?
Lorraine: Oh gosh, I first tried it when YinYan started, about 8 years ago?
Robin: I think it was closer to 10 actually, I had a bit of a shock when I realised we’d been going that long! Why did you start yoga?
Lorraine: To get more movement in my life, and the lunchtime classes are perfect for me.
Robin: And why do you keep coming back?
Lorraine: Because I really enjoy it – it gets me moving, stronger & more flexible. Regular classes have definitely had a positive impact on my life in the office. Sometimes it’s hard to switch off but the classes help, and moving is so much better than sitting at your desk eating a sandwich.
Robin: Yes sitting all day isn’t great for your physical & mental health, or productivity for that matter. Anything else you’d like to see?
Lorraine: I just wish there were more classes really!
Robin: I hear that, we’re working on it!
